The January 23rd school shooting in Benton, Kentucky was reported to be the eleventh so far in 2018. Let that sink in for a moment.

This past week, the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) issued an interim guidance document on campus sexual misconduct in advance of final rule making on schools’ responsibilities under Title IX to respond to sexual misconduct complaints.

The U.S. has already seen multiple school shootings this year. We're not talking over the course of the 2017-2018 school year. We're talking 2018. And it's only mid-February. The fact that as the year continues, this number will likely grow should concern every one of us.
