The End of the Legislative Session and The Wait for the Ed Budget

As I write this today, we are exactly three hours and twenty eight minutes from the official deadline for the legislature to gavel session closed.

As I write this today, we are exactly three hours and twenty eight minutes from the official deadline for the legislature to gavel session closed. This has been a rollercoaster ride of the first magnitude. We believe that we will have you numbers for preliminary use by the time the newsletter comes out. We believe the State Aid will be very significantly affected by WADM and the chargeables. Please remember that the cuts in that are in the activity account are also called line items for items such as textbooks, professional development, etc. This will have to be decided by the State Board of Education and won’t be available until the budget is published. The final allocations for next year and the total receipts will be completed during the June Excise Board meetings, and we will be reporting on those events.

We will be sending out the final finance materials for FY16, which will be similar to our Redline Reports for legislation. The plan is to send this electronically so you have a spreadsheet copy for future use. We will send out a notification prior to the publishing of this report. If we can help in any manner please don’t hesitate to call. I can always be contacted by cell phone at (405) 368-9048.
