We are pleased to welcome three new regional directors to our statewide PD staff. Kendra Schenk will be working with our southern members, Monica Hardbarger will be servicing southeastern Oklahoma members and Linda Marshall will be working with the Oklahoma City metro area schools.
Additionally, beginning their second year of fun with the OPSRC statewide regional professional development team are Valerie Johnson, working with our northwest members and Faye Garrison who will be visiting with our northeast Oklahoma members.
You, our member schools, will always be our priority, and we want you to feel the value for your membership, whether that be a monthly visit from a regional developer, attending one of the five regional state wide PD days, coming to one of the scheduled trainings at our facility or scheduling our team to train on a subject of your choosing at your site.
We encourage you to take advantage of these free services, and lest we forget, there are many online courses available for you and your staff to complete hosted within the members-only section of our website. Many of these courses were created to fulfill the requirements for the SDE-mandated PD trainings, but we will continue to add, along with other departments, courses you can take at your convenience. And if there is a particular topic you would like us to add, just let us know!
Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your school opening go as smoothly as possible. Email me if you have any questions or to schedule a training.
Look forward to hearing from you.
When we released the June finance report last week, we included a positive set of numbers and facts in it. We see continued recovery in the revenue streams for education, and it does look like we may actually get out of this year without a revenue inconvenience.
It’s news to no one that our public schools face enormous challenges in virtually every area of operations, including finances. Oklahoma education funding is one of the lowest in the nation and yet mandates remain, leaving schools without the proper resources to support them.
