Stomping Out October Blues by Connecting with Each Other

We’ve all heard the term “October Blues” time and time again. It’s that period in the school year when everything starts to feel a little harder. Maybe it’s fatigue, playing the catch-up-game with the never-ending deadlines, or just the cold weather approaching.

We’ve all heard the term “October Blues” time and time again. It’s that period in the school year when everything starts to feel a little harder. Maybe it’s fatigue, playing the catch-up-game with the never-ending deadlines, or just the cold weather approaching. This work is hard, but remember we are here to support you through it. Connecting with other teachers and leaders through our workshops can sometimes be just the right medicine.

Sometimes “October Blues” come when you’re just not sure how you’re going to reach those lofty goals you set in July and August. But guess what? You’re in luck! Jean Potter with the Teaching and Learning team has posted several videos to walk you through NWEA reports and setting goals on our members-only online training site. These videos provide the basics of NWEA support in 5-minute chapters, which are easy for anybody from novice to expert to digest.

And just in case you need even more solutions to cure those blues, check out the following links to some articles with strategies that are sure to boost morale:

OPSRC has the privilege of seeing all of the great things going on within our member schools. If you have a need, whether it is seeing model teachers in English, learning more about personalized learning or seeing a school communicate effectively through social media, please let us know. We can get you connected with schools and districts across the state that may have just the answer you need. Also, our events allow for collaboration across districts. If you need proof, check out some of our upcoming sessions:

Additionally, Associate Director of Teaching & Learning Bianca Rose is busy planning our winter regional professional development days for December and January, so be on the lookout for those opportunities to brainstorm with educators in your region.

Thank you for all the opportunities you give our team to Teach & Learn right along with you!
