Job Description

The Professional Development Content Specialist is a member of the Teaching & Learning team. The position assists schools to identify their most pressing academic needs and to provide assistance in effectively addressing these needs.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Remain current on educational research by engaging in professional learning activities, professional reading, and peer collaboration.
  • Create professional development presentations and assist OPSRC member schools with research based strategies and tools to assist them in targeting their needs.
  • Deliver requested professional learning sessions in person and virtually.
  • Create on-line courses and add to the learning management system.
  • Provide support for users of the learning management system and through the Fresh Desk help desk with customer service questions.
  • Support the initiatives of the teaching and learning team as needed.

Key Abilities and Attributes

  • Deep educational subject matter expertise which will be focused on developing solutions in a collaborative environment with OPSRC member schools and other related stakeholders.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with OPSRC member schools; state agencies; educational entities; and other key stakeholders.
  • Experience with school and/or program leadership.
  • Detail oriented and extremely organized.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with technology, including creating presentations.
  • Passionate about public education.
  • Able to work collaboratively in a culturally and politically diverse community.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in education curriculum or related field.
  • Five(5) years experience: curriculum and instruction; current technology applications; ability to conduct valid educational research and produce reports of findings; ability to present complex content to varying and diverse groups; ability to develop and deliver effective technology-based training; and ability to develop and present presentations on teaching and learning issues and content.
  • Experience in providing professional development for both large and small audiences.
  • Ability to use current versions of word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and publishing software applications.
  • Travel is required - across Oklahoma for meetings or nationally for conferences. Must have a valid driver’s license and auto insurance.

Salary and Benefits

Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience. In addition, a comprehensive benefits package is included.

Work Environment

The OPSRC main office is located in Oklahoma City at 309 NW 13th Street in a two-story structure with no elevator. Accommodations will be made for meetings on the first floor if needed. Some locations visited during the course of executing job duties may not be wheelchair accessible and some time may be spent participating in outside activities.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel, such as keyboarding and writing.  The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. Must have visual acuity to read and draft reports, memos, letters, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision adequate for the incumbent to perform the responsibilities and functions of the job efficiently.  Must be able to walk, climb stairs, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift arms and hands above shoulder level. Must be able to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds occasionally. Must be able to manually operate and use a computer. Must be able to clearly hear and understand telephone conversations. Must be able to speak and communicate clearly.
